A complaint of raping a minor has been lodged with the police against Nepali national cricket team captain Sandeep Lamichhane. Lamichhane is currently in the West Indies to play in the Caribbean Premier League. He went to West Indies on August 6. A police source informed that Sandeep kept the minor in the Kathmandu Hotel Inn in Pingalasthan on August 5 and raped the minor. On the afternoon of the 5th, Sandeep took the minor to Nagarkot for a visit. The police said they returned to Kathmandu in the evening and stayed at a hotel in the complaint.

Lamichhane and the minor became close through social media only a month ago. The minor, who has been communicating with them continuously since then, has given a statement to the police. According to a high police source, the minor’s home is Nuwakot.

Lamichhane’s contact with minors seems to be through social media. The minor has given a statement that she was raped on August 5. We are making further inquiries, the police source said, ‘It seems that they had met even before that.’ The police are also studying the CCTV footage of Sandeep taking the minor to Nagarkot.

According to the police, it has been revealed that the minor was studying in a hostel in Baneshwar. However, the police have kept it a secret as to which college she is studying in. SSP Bharat Bohra, head of the Kathmandu Police, said that the police have started further investigation into the Lamichhane incident.

There has been a complaint of rape of a minor. We are preparing to inform more by issuing a press release”, said Bohra. According to the police, the minor is 16/17 years old.
